This semester in Mrs. Carlin’s 2nd Grade we introduced three digit numbers. We have been combining our numbers, comparing our numbers, building hundreds beads and working with base ten blocks to solve our addition and subtraction problems. When comparing we have introduced greater than, less than and equal too and how to regroup our numbers. Using many different strategies and manipulatives is essential for students in 2nd grade to understand proper place value and how to solve three digit addition and subtraction problems. We have enjoyed this unit and continue to grow our mathematical knowledge and prepare for 3rd grade!
