English III students spent second quarter drifting through southern California during the Great Depression with Lennie Small and George Milton hoping to "live off the fat of the land." Dissatisfied with the ending of the 1992 movie adaption of Of Mice and Men, students spontaneously decided to act out selected scenes from Steinbecks' novella. Within two class periods, they pulled together a memorable in-class production. Curley's Wife, played by Bessie Garcia, flirted her way to her demise. Isaiah Stephen transformed himself into the innocent yet dangerous Lennie. Self-appointed Technical Director Robbie Singletary singlehandedly curated and projected perfect scenery onto the Smartboard, and James Dardenne gathered costumes and adjusted lighting.
