Greenfield High School Boys & Girls Basketball programs teamed up to host Wildcat Youth Basketball Camp, March 4th– 6th. Camp was open to any boys and girls in grades 3-6, free of charge, and was held directly after school in the Elementary Gym. Player turnout was exceptional boasting forty-nine youth athletes in attendance.
Throughout the three-day camp, athletes received just under 6 hours of hands on instructional time from High School Boys Varsity Head Coach - Matt McCarthy, High School Girls Varsity Head Coach – Loganne Hickman, and High School Girls Assistant Coach – Stephanie Bos. Campers went through a variety of drills and games that set a strong focus on fundamental development of ball handling, shooting, and defense. All skills learned throughout camp aligned with expectations of the High School and Junior High athletic programs.
The goal for this camp was to not only teach our young athletes skilled fundamentals, but to also introduce them to learning life skills such as how to be good teammates, coachability, how to work hard, and how to have a lot of fun while doing so! After such a tremendous turnout and environment, all coaches agree and look forward to hosting more events such as this!
