On January 18th, 2024 the Greenfield FCCLA traveled to Carthage where they competed in Region 11 S.T.A.R. Events. Baylea Conroy and Cera Dickerson presented a Chapter Service Project Display, which recognizes chapters that develop and implement a well-balanced program of work and promotes FCCLA and Family and Consumer Sciences to the community. Their project earned a Bronze rating. Shalynn Mallory participated in the Job Interview Level 3, in which she developed a portfolio, participated in an interview, and communicated a personal understanding of job requirements. Shalynn earned a Silver rating.
Octavio Anaya competed in Career Investigation Level 3, an individual event that recognizes participants for their ability to perform self-assessments, research and explore a career, set career goals, create a plan for achieving goals, and describe the relationship of Family and Consumer Sciences coursework to the selected career. The requirements include a portfolio and presenting the information in the portfolio as a speech. Octavio earned a GOLD rating and qualified to compete at the State Leadership Conference in March!
Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) Events are Competitive Events in which members compete at the regional/district, state, and national levels. Students are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation.
